Last week, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores hosted the Jenkins Lady Cavaliers in high school softball action. The Lady Commodores fell behind early, but rallied to tie the game late, forcing extra innings to decide the outcome.
Jenkins got on the board early with two runs in the first inning. Perry Central’s defense tightened, and allowed them to play catch-up.
The Lady Commodores picked up their first run in the fifth inning, and then tied the game with a run in the seventh inning, putting the game into extra innings. Jenkins was able to force a run across in the eighth inning, but Perry Central was unable to reciprocate, giving the win to the Lady Cavaliers.
Whitney Back went the distance for the Lady Commodores, giving up three runs in eight innings, with seven hits, two walks and 12 strikeouts.
