On Saturday, the Perry County Central wrestling Commodores hosted their annual Nick Cory Take Down Tournament. The tournament is held in honor of Nick Cory, a former Perry Central state qualifier in wrestling and cross country. All proceeds from the event go to a scholarship named in honor of Cory.
This year, Perry Central was joined by Jenkins, Letcher Central, and Pike Central. The event followed a take-down format. Two points were awarded per take down (no mat grappling), and the winner was the wrestler with the most points at the end of a three minute session.
Most of the schools also brought younger wrestlers. Between matches, these wrestlers participated in exhibition matches.
