HINDMAN – Police in Knott County are investigating after the clerk at a local business was robbed Tuesday at gunpoint.

It happened at the Ameri-Cash in Hindman at approximately 9 a.m. when a white male entered the business armed with a pistol, according to Kentucky State Police. The man demanded money from the clerk and gave her instructions to follow, and then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

The perpetrator is described as standing 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing between 275 and 300 pounds. Police say he was dressed in a dark, hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. Though the hood was pulled tight, he was described as having reddish brown hair and short facial hair.

Police say no one was injured in the incident, but ask anyone with information about the robbery to contact the Kentucky State Police at 1-800-222-5555, or 606-435-6069.
