by Herald Staff

HAZARD — A Perry County woman was killed in a crash early Saturday morning.

Diana Sexton, 49, of Hazard, was travelling north along North Main Street at 7:22 a.m. on May 26 when a Saturn passenger car being driven by a man police identified as David Jones was traveling in the opposite lane.

Jones apparently lost control of the vehicle and crossed the center line, colliding head-on with Sexton’s Pontiac Grand Prix, according to a Kentucky State Police press release.

Police report that Sexton was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and was rushed to the Hazard ARH medical center where she was later pronounced dead by an emergency room physician.

Jones was also transported to the Hazard ARH and later airlifted to a Lexington trauma center. His condition is currently unknown.

Funeral services for Sexton are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30 at Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home in Hindman.
