The Buckhorn Wildcats hosted the June Buchanan Crusaders early last week. The Wildcats got off to a strong start before they faltered. They would recover in the second half and later cruise to the 85-55 win.

Buckhorn would come out hot and quickly establish a double-digit lead. However, at the end of the first period, June Buchanan began to make a move. At the horn, the Wildcats were on top 28-17.

The Wildcats went ice cold in the second period, and the Crusaders were able to sneak up on them and eventually take the lead (31-29). However, Buckhorn would recover, and went into the locker room on top 38-32.

Buckhorn pulled out all the stops in the third period, and June Buchanan could do little to stop a strong Wildcat run. With eight minutes left to play, the Wildcats were in the lead 72-43.

The Wildcats were able to invoke the “continuous clock” early in the fourth quarter. The game came to a quiet end, with Buckhorn collecting the 85-55 win.

Buckhorn (85) Hoskins 27, Crank 10, Cooper 12, Cole 9, Estep 9, Blair 7, Boggs 4, Stidham 2, Herald 2 and Noble 3.

June Buchanan (55) Ison 18, Kidd 19, Hall 10, Terry 1, Lynch 5, Johnson 4 and Hammond 3.
