The Hazard Bulldogs and the Powell County Pirates hit the diamond in the 14th region baseball tournament early last week. The Bulldogs fell behind early and were unable to catch up as they fell from the tournament.
The Pirates got on the board first with a run in the first inning and another in the second. The Bulldogs got one of the runs back in the bottom of the frame as Jordan Olinger cleared the fence with a home run (2-1).
Powell County continued the one-run-per-inning trend through the fourth inning, giving them the 4-1 lead. The two teams traded runs in the fifth inning (6-3). The Bulldogs picked up both of their runs off a home run by Jacob Roll.
Neither team scored down the stretch, setting the 6-3 score as the final. The loss ended the Bulldogs’ season with a 25-10 record.
