LOST CREEK – A Knott County man is charged with murder after an automobile crash that killed a passenger inside the vehicle.
Kentucky State Police responded to a call reporting the crash at 1:10 a.m. on Ky. 2446 in the Lost Creek community of Perry County.
Authorities say 34-year-old Donald Combs, of Fisty, was driving under the influence when he lost control of the vehicle and veered over an embankment before the vehicle came to rest on its top in a nearby creek.
A press release from the Kentucky State Police does not indicate whether or not Combs was injured, but police say he did flee the scene, while a passenger in the vehicle, 51-year-old Burly R. Combs, also of Fisty, was killed in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Perry County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities later located Donald Combs at his home, where he was arrested and transported to the Kentucky River Regional Jail in Hazard. He is currently facing charges of murder, leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence and driving on a DUI suspended license.
