The Perry County Central Lady Commodores are ready to get the 2012-13 season underway. The Lady Commodores finished last season with a first round loss in the state tournament to the eventual champions DuPont Manuel.

The Lady Commodores lost several talented players off last year’s squad as first team All-State performer Kendall Noble, who along with Katelyn Smith, Tamara Crawford, Miranda Napier, and Cassie Napier exited via graduation.

Perry Central will have a pair of seniors on this year’s team in Whitney Back and Randi-Carol Napier, along with several juniors (Lyndci Combs, Elizabeth Gayhart, Kayla Rankin, and Hannah Spurlock). The Lady Commodores, as in the past, will bring a bevy of players off the bench.

Many teams will find it hard to deal with the Lady Commodores as first team All-State Kayla Rankin is hard to handle in the middle, and fifth-year starter Whitney Back will be running the point. Perry Central will again be able to run double-digit numbers off the bench to help wear down their competition.

The Lady Commodores will have a more than difficult schedule to start the season. They will only have three home games before the first of the new year. Perry Central will play in a pair of Christmas tournaments, one in Myrtle Beach and the other in Daytona Beach.

Perry Central will also play at home the entire month of February, and will host the district and region tournaments. The Lady Commodores will have another good shot at returning to the state tournament this season.

Do you think Gov. Beshear's expansion of Medicaid in Kentucky is a good thing?
