Last Tuesday, the Perry County Central Commodores hosted the undefeated Letcher Central Cougars. The Commodores jumped out to a big lead early and had to hold off a strong rally by the Cougars to hold on for the win.

The Commodores were on fire in the first period and quickly posted a double-digit lead. Perry Central continued to stay hot throughout the frame, and ended with a 21-9 lead.

Perry Central quickly cooled off in the second period, while Letcher Central began to find their range. The Cougars made a strong comeback in the period, but the Commodores were able to limp into the locker room with the 31-26 advantage.

Both teams picked up their defensive efforts in the third period, with the offenses playing to a tie (13-all). The Commodores went into the final period with their five-point advantage still intact (44-39).

The even play continued into the fourth quarter, with Letcher Central making a strong rally late. The Cougars got to within a single basket late, but the Commodores managed to stave off the attack.

Perry Central went on to win the contest by the final count of 57-51.

Perry Central (57) Braxton Beverly 16 (3 assists and 1 rebound), Austin Pray 3 (1 assist and 6 rebounds), Dalton Cornett 23 (1 block and 11 rebounds), Darrly Beatty 10 (1 assist and 2 rebounds), Tyler Fugate 5 (4 assists and 2 rebounds), and Austin Neace (2 assists).
