JACKSON – A Breathitt County man who was one of four people believed to have taken part in a $17,000 theft in Hazard was arrested Tuesday evening by officers with the Jackson Police Department.
The theft took place on April 4 as Christianna Clemons, who at the time was an employee of U Bet on Dawhare Drive, was transporting a deposit from the business to a local bank. That’s when police said a woman jumped in front of Clemons’ car, assaulted her and stole the car and deposit, which totaled $17,000. Two men were also reported to have been involved in the theft.
Clemons originally reported the incident to police as a robbery, though after they began their investigation, authorities determined that Clemons was also involved, along with Jerry “Yad” Hurt, Sharon Hensley and Hiram Noble. Clemons later confessed, police said, while Hurt and Hensley, both Perry County residents, turned themselves in at the Kentucky River Regional Jail in Hazard on April 12.
Noble, however, remained wanted until Tuesday evening when police in Jackson received a tip that he was at a residence on Armory Drive. Officers responded and located Noble, where they arrested him on an outstanding warrant out of Breathitt County for possession and PI, according to a dispatcher at the Jackson Police Department. Noble was also served with the warrant from Perry County, where he will be charged with theft by unlawful taking over $10,000.
He is currently lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail in Hazard.
Hurt, Hensley and Clemons will also be facing theft charges, while Clemons will face an additional charge of falsely reporting an incident.
