The Perry County Central Lady Commodores started their 2012 volleyball season last week. The Lady Commodores got off to a good start by sweeping the Knott Central Lady Patriots.
The Lady Commodores opened the evening with a freshman contest. Perry Central opened strong and never looked back as they took the first game 18-10. Knott County battled back in game two, and looked to be about to force a third game, but Perry rallied for the 19-17 win, giving them the match.
The first game of the JV contest was never really in doubt as they Lady Commodores started and finished strong. Game one went to the Lady Commodores 21-8
Knott County woke up in game two, forcing Perry Central to pick up the pace late in the game. The Lady Commodores were able to fend off the attack, and came away with the win 21-16, giving them the match.
New rules allow the varsity games to go best three out of five this season. Perry Central would need but three games to take the win in the varsity contest.
Perry Central got out of the gate slow, but picked up the pace midway through. The Lady Commodores were able to hold off a late rally to collect the 25-23 win.
Game two would not be as hard on the Lady Commodores. The late momentum from game one carried over, and Perry Central rolled to the 25-10 win.
Perry Central played well in game three, but they could not pull away from their opponent. Knott County was able to keep pace, but would not be able to take the lead at any point. The Lady Commodores grabbed game three, and the match, with the 25-17 win.
