HAZARD — Hazard Community and Technical College will hold a candlelight vigil on Tuesday for victims of a fatal shooting which took place on their campus.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the First Federal center, room 123A.

HCTC President Steve Greiner said the vigil will include sing-ins and some readings from students’ perspectives, as well as a time for comments from students, and the public is invited to the event.

Visitation for 20-year-old Caitlin Cornett, 53-year-old Jackie Cornett, and 12-year-old Taylor Cornett will be held Monday, Jan. 21, at the John C. Combs Arena from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; the funeral service will be held directly after the visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Team Taylor account at any Community Trust Bank location.

Officials with HCTC have set up an area in the parking lot of the First Federal Center to memorialize those lost in Tuesday’s shooting.

Evelyn Wood, director of public relations at HCTC, said anyone who wishes to pay their respects to the victims can come to a tent set up in the parking lot, featuring photos of Jackie, Caitlin and Taylor Cornett, and sign guest books which will eventually be given to the families. The area will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. The memorial will re-open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Donations can also be mailed to:
