Last Thursday, the Hazard Bulldogs hosted the Pike County Central Hawks. The Bulldogs managed to stay one step ahead of the Hawks in the first half, and jumped out to the large lead in the second half, giving them the impressive 84-48 win.

Hazard jumped out to a quick double-digit lead, but allowed Pike Central to climb back in the game. The Bulldogs finished the opening frame with a rally that netted them the 21-16 lead at the horn.

The Hawks hung around for a few minutes in the second period, but could not avoid a strong rally midway through by the Bulldogs. Hazard upped their lead to 41-26 at the break.

The Bulldogs put the finishing touches on the game in the third period. Hazard outscored Pike Central 24-9 in the frame, and with eight minutes left to play, they held the 65-34 lead.

The Bulldogs were able to avoid a letdown in the fourth quarter, keeping the pressure on the Hawks. Hazard closed out the game strong, and collected the 84-48 win.

T. Haynes (1 steal), and Dustin Slone 5 (1 rebound and 1 steal).

Pike Central (48) Blackburn 17, Burnett 7, Justice 5, Fields 5, Tibbs 4, Smith 4, Clark 2, Wesley 2 and Elkins 2.
