Local farmers are at it again this year as the Hazard-Perry County Farmer’s Market is open for business.

The market opened this year on May 16, and is scheduled to run through October 31, and will again be held at the picnic shelters at the Perry County Park.

The market will be open every Wednesday and Saturday during the months noted above, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

The farmer’s market is designed to promote the work of regional farmers by offering the opportunity to sell their produce or products, and also provide a healthy alternative diet to the community at an affordable cost. Members have traditionally sold items ranging from homegrown fruit and vegetables to flowers and handcrafted items.

Last year’s members traveled from several sites around Eastern Kentucky, including Campton, Hyden, Beattyville, Booneville and London to sell their products at the market in Hazard last year. To sign up, you can call the Hazard-Perry County Tourism office locally at 606-487-1580, or toll free at 1-888-857-5263.
