The Perry County Central Commodores and the Hazard Bulldogs packed the house at the John C. Combs Arena last week. The two were playing to keep their season alive as the loser went home, and the winner advanced to the championship game and the region tournament.

The game was a little sloppy in the early going as neither team was able to find their range. The Commodores finished the period with a narrow 10-6 lead.

Perry Central began to put some distance between them and the Bulldogs in the second period. The Commodores were able to push the margin to double digits, and went into the locker room with the 26-12 advantage.

Hazard finally found their groove in the third period and drew closer to the Commodores. With 2:30 on the clock in the third period, the Bulldogs had cut the margin to five (29-24). Perry Central ended the period with the 32-26 lead.

Both teams turned up the intensity in the final period and put together their best offensive output of the game. Hazard continued to keep the game close and remained only five points behind midway through the period.

Perry Central began to pull away late, and pushed the lead back to double digits. A couple of late baskets by Hazard set the final score at 50-42.

Perry Central (50) Austin Pray 1 (1 rebound), Darryl Beatty 5 (1 rebound), Tyler Fugate 4 (1 rebound), Austin Neace 3, Braxton Beverly 15 (6 rebounds), Travis Stacy 4, Justin Johnson 12 (10 rebounds) and Dalton Cornett 6 (3 rebounds).

Hazard (42) Hunter Hardy 2 (1 rebound), Collier Mobelini 2 (5 rebounds and 1 assist), Evan Whitaker 6 (2 rebounds and 1 assist), Chris Hudson 15 (9 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block), Josh Hollon 8 (2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal), Jordan Olinger 7 (4 rebounds and 2 assists) and Mack Hall 2.
