The Hazard Lady Bulldogs hosted the region All “A” volleyball tournament on Saturday and had little trouble capturing the title as they blew through the competition, taking three matches and the title.

The Lady Bulldogs started with the Lady Cavaliers of Jenkins. Hazard took the first game easily with a 25-5 score, and finished off Jenkins with a 25-14 score in the second game.

Hazard stats: Sarah Pratt 13 assists and 5 aces, Maddison Niece 4 kills, 1 dig, 1 block and 4 aces, Paige Williams 5 kills and 5 aces, Lindsey Branson 2 kills, and Marjorie Hammonds 5 kills and 3 aces.

In the second match, Hazard took on the Jackson City Lady Tigers, and team the Lady Bulldogs defeated to start the season. Again, the match would only go two games. Hazard got off to a slow start in game one, and allowed the Lady Tigers to hang around. However, the Lady Bulldogs were able to pull away at the end and post the 25-20 win. Game two would go much smoother as Hazard led from the opening serve and went on to win 25-9.

Hazard stats: Sarah Pratt 20 assists and 2 aces, Maddison Niece 5 kills and 3 aces, Paige Williams 2 kills and 3 aces, Lindsey Branson 1 kill, Marjorie Hammonds 13 kills and 1 ace, Krystann Thies 4 kills, Cheyenna Kilburn 1 dig and Chandler Maggard 3 aces.

In the championship game, Hazard took on a familiar foe in the Leslie County Lady Eagles. The Lady Bulldogs had little trouble handling the Lady Eagles as they shot them down in straight games.

In the first game, Hazard set the tempo early and went on to win the game by the final of 25-11. Little changed, except the score, in game two as Hazard rolled to the 25-13 win, giving them their third consecutive All “A” title.

Hazard stats: Sarah Pratt 2 kills, 14 assists, 1 block and 5 aces, Maddison Niece 8 kills, 1 assist and 1 ace, Paige Williams 5 kills, 1 assist and 3 aces, Lindsey Branson 2 kills, Marjorie Hammonds 5 kills and 1 ace, and Krystann Thies 1 kill.
