Hazard pitches shutout for third straight district title
The Hazard Bulldogs won their third consecutive 54th District championship on Wednesday, defeating Perry Central 10-0 in six innings. Hazard picked up a run in the first inning after a lead-off triple from senior Austin Johnson, who later crossed the plate to give Hazard the 1-0 advantage. Perry downs Buckhorn, set for district title game with Hazard
Perry Central and Buckhorn met on the field for an abbreviated game in the 54th District softball tournament Wednesday evening, with the Commodores running away with the 7-0 win. The 54th District softball tournament at Perry Central was delayed by rain Tuesday evening, but got underway Wednesday with the Hazard Bulldogs punching their ticket to the district finals with a 7-4 win over Leslie County. Hazard opens district with win over Buckhorn
Hazard and Buckhorn kicked off the 2013 54th district baseball tournament. The Wildcats got on the board first but could not hold on for the win against the powerful Bulldogs. Hazard got off to a slow, but steady start, rolling up runs a little at a time. The Bulldogs exploded late in the contest as Jordan Olinger and Even Whitaker both hit home runs, helping Hazard to end the game early 11-1.
