Late last week, the Hazard-Perry 13-14 year old baseball team traveled to Clay County for a pair of games. Hazard-Perry looked to be well on their way to a win in the first game, but the victory proved to be elusive as Clay County scored four runs in the fourth inning to steal the 7-5 win.

Hazard Perry took the early lead with a pair of runs in the first inning. Austin Johnson led off the game with a walk, and moved to third on a pair of ground-outs. Johnson then scored on a single by Devin Turner. Turner then showed his speed, as he was able to score from first on a long single by Hubbard (2-0).

Clay County cut the Hazard-Perry lead in half in the bottom of the inning. Hazard-Perry was able to get the run back in the second inning. Austin Pray got things rolling with a walk and a stolen base. Pray would then cross the plate after a Austin Johnson triple (3-1).

Again, Clay County would cut the margin to one run in the bottom of the frame. Hazard-Perry responded with two runs in the third inning to bring the tally to 5-2.

Devin Turner opened with a walk and moved into scoring position when Hubbard reached base on an error. Turner would score on a RBI single by Jacob Roll, while Hubbard would score on a Clay County error.

Clay County scored another run in the bottom of the frame (5-3), and broke the game open with four runs in the fourth inning. Hazard-Perry was unable to put together a rally in the fifth inning, and Clay County collected the 7-5 win.
