TECO Energy sells TECO Coal for $170 mil.

HAZARD—Perry County Coal Corporation, a subsidiary of TECO Coal, will have a new owner by year’s end according to a press release from TECO Energy on Monday.According to the release, TECO Energy Inc. will finalize the sale of its subsidiary, TECO Coal, to Cambrian Coal Corporation, a member of the Booth Energy Group, by the end of the year—a sale that will bring the company $170 million and will take it out of the coal business.

 

City commission solves filter crisis

Grand jury hands down 22 indictments

HAZARD — One person charged with sexual abuse topped the list of indictments the Perry County grand jury returned in September.Steven M. Jude, 31, of Hazard, was indicted on three counts of first degree sexual abuse, a Class C felony. The indictment alleges that in Jan. 2013, May 2013, and May 2014 Jude had inappropriate sexual contact with three separate girls under the age of 12. A $75,000 bond with home incarceration was set in the case.
