Early last week, the Perry County Central Lady Commodore soccer team hosted the Oneida Baptist Lady Mountaineers. The Lady Commodores opened up a lead in the first half, and had to hold off a strong charge by the Lady Mountaineers in the second half.

Perry Central opened the game with the first goal as Erin Gambill got loose in the box for a one-on-one opportunity with the goalie. Gambill’s shot caught the goalie flat-footed, giving the Lady Commodores the 1-0 lead.

Shortly after the Lady Commodores took the lead, they were able to strike again. This time Madison Eversole would take the pass from Vada Miller and deposit it in the net (2-0).

Oneida Baptist would tighten the score in the second half with a goal, but would find it difficult to hold on to the momentum. Perry Central quickly unleashed a barrage that netted them the 4-1 advantage. Vada Miller picked up a goal to go with her assist, while Kelly Arredondo also had a goal.
