On Friday, the Hazard Bulldog football team traveled to Jackson to take on the Breathitt County Bobcats in their final regular season game. The Bulldogs went into the break trailing, but put together a strong second half to bring home the win.

Early in the first half, Breathitt County went up 6-0 on a 75 yard pass and run play. The lead would not last long as Hazard came back with a 30-yard pass play from Cole Ratliff to Trey Pollard. The play gave the Bulldogs the 7-6 lead.

The only score of the second period belonged to the Bobcats. Breathitt County finished off a drive with a 22-yard run play, but once again could not convert the extra-point (7-12). The Bulldogs didn’t waste any time getting on the board in the second half, and ended the period with the 22-12 advantage. Corey Smith put the first on the board with a 2-yard run, and Skylar Pelfrey added the second on a 30-yard pass from Bailey Blair (Tyler Collins added the extra-point, and Andy Baker caught the 2-pt. Conversion).

The Bulldogs went up 29-12 in the fourth quarter as they tacked on their final touchdown of the evening. Cole Ratliff tucked the ball and scrambled 15-yards for the score.

Before the game ended, Hazard picked up their final score of the night. Tyler Collins knocked through a 37-yard field goal to set the final score at 32-12.

The Bulldogs finished the regular season with an 8-2 record, and will host Pineville in the opening round of the state playoffs.
