On Saturday, the Perry County Central Commodores traveled to North Laurel for the Legacy Nissan Classic. The Commodores took on one of the top rated teams in the state in Taylor County. Neither team would build a sizeable lead during the game, with the outcome being determined in the final seconds of the contest.
Both teams came out strong in the first period and tried to establish the tempo. Perry Central trailed 16-15 at the end of the first period. They would play even with Taylor County in the second period, sending them to the break still trailing by one at 30-29.
The Commodores picked up the pace in the third period, and eventually took the lead from the Cardinals. When the horn sounded to take the floor in the fourth period, Perry Central was up 47-46. After a hard fought fourth quarter, the Commodores came up two points shy of the Cardinals (70-68).
Austin Hill led the Commodores in scoring with 20 points, while Matt Turner led the team in rebounding with 12.
