On Thursday, the Hazard Lady Bulldogs played host to the Breathitt County Lady Bobcats. The two teams hooked up in an epic battle that would not be decided until the final horn.
Hazard came out strong in the first quarter and quickly put Breathitt County on the defensive. The Lady Bulldogs ended the period with a slight lead at 15-13.
The Lady Bulldogs continued to keep the pace high in the second period, keeping the Lady Bobcats from settling into their offensive set. The strategy worked as Hazard continued to hold the advantage, going into the locker room with the 30-24 lead.
The third period proved to be problematic for both teams as scoring dropped off considerable. Fortunately for the Lady Bulldogs, Breathitt County would make little advances on the lead. Going into the final period, Hazard remained on top 37-33.
Both teams saved their best offensive performance until the final quarter. The Lady Bobcats finally found a way to break the Lady Bulldog’s defensive stranglehold and took the lead. The game went back and forth down the stretch, with Breathitt County pulling out the 60-58 win.
