Last week, the Hazard Bulldogs traveled to Pikeville to participate in the Pikeville Invitational Tournament. First on the slate for the Bulldogs would be the Sheldon Clark Cardinals.
The Bulldogs got off to a strong start, and built a 21-14 lead in the first quarter. Hazard continued to hold the tempo in the second quarter, and went into the locker room with a 39-29 advantage.
The pace was staggering coming out of the break, with Sheldon Clark pulling out all the stops in an effort to get back into the game. Hazard, however, was unwilling to relinquish the lead, and went into the final eight minutes with the 61-52 lead.
The Cardinals continued their comeback bid in the fourth quarter, but Hazard managed to do just enough to keep their opponent at bay. The Bulldogs hit their free throws down the stretch, and came away with the narrow 76-74 win.
