After the loss to Harlan County in the opening round of the WYMT tournament, the Buckhorn Wildcats hooked up with the Letcher Central Cougars. The Cougars lost to South Laurel in the opening round.

Neither team was willing to give any quarter in the first period, with Letcher Central eeking out a slim 14-13 lead. Buckhorn turned the tables in the second quarter, taking the 28-16 advantage into the break.

The Wildcats continued to hold the momentum in the early portion of the third period, but midway through, the Cougars took control. With eight minutes left to play, Letcher Central was up 42-40.

Buckhorn needed to make up two points in the final period if they wanted to notch the win. A two point advantage is what they got, sending the game to overtime.

The Wildcats were unable to keep up the rally in the extra-frame, and eventually fell 61-51.

Buckhorn (51) Ryan Boggs 4 (6 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals), Shannon Blank 7 (3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal), Nick Stidham 2, Josh Crank 14 (3 rebounds), Connor Hoskins 21 (7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals) and Daniel Hurley 3 (2 rebounds).
