In their second game of the WYMT tournament, the Perry County Central Commodores took on the Clay County Tigers. The Commodores took control of the game early, and fended off a couple of late charges to advance to the championship game 79-68.
Perry Central struck early and often using a well balanced offensive attack and stingy defense. By the end of the quarter, the Commodores had built a 23-12 lead.
Clay County was able to get their offense going in the second quarter. However, each rally was met by a counter-attack by Perry Central. The Commodores headed into the locker room with much of their lead in tack (38-29).
The Tiger would cut the lead to five in the third period, but the Commodores remained unshaken as they retaliated with a run of their own. The final run went to Clay County, but the lead going into the final period belonged to Perry Central (56-45).
Both teams pulled out all the stops in the final eight minutes as neither team was willing to give any quarter. In the end, it would be Perry Central that advanced to the championship game with the 79-68 win.
