Perry Football ready to restart again

The Commodores will return a wealth of talent along the offensive line as starters like Austin Caudill return.

Perry Central running backs like Jordan Combs will carry the brunt of the Commodore offensive as they take on a new look under a new coach.

For the upperclassmen football players at Perry Central, they will be starting the season with their third coach in so many years. This season, Coach Tom Larky will be at the helm of the Commodore team, replacing Justin Haddix and Jordan Amis who led the team in the past two years. Larky in the past has led such powerhouse teams as Rockcastle County and Harlan County.

The Commodores are coming off a disappointing 1-10 season, and are looking to improve their final count come November. Perry Central will more than likely go with the running attack for the major of it plays. They will be ready for the task as the majority of their linemen are experienced and seasoned at their positions.

Perry Central will have a long road to travel if they are to improve on last season’s mark as they have a tough schedule ahead of them. They will be taking on several teams with strong traditions such as Lynn Camp, Breathitt County, Wayne County, Whitley County and Harlan County.

The Commodores chances of improving on last season’s record look pretty good as only two of the teams on their schedule had winning record last season (Letcher Central and North Laurel), both of which are in their district. Pike Central had an even record, while seven teams had losing records.
