Perry Wrestling put in a successful day at the Carr Wrestling Academy tournament held at Midway University Sunday. The Perry County club claimed a first place, two second place, and two third place finishes in an intense day of wrestling.

Eight year old Derek Gaige Logan dominated the Bantam 100 pound weight class with quick pins in the first period for all

three of his matches gaining him the tourney championship.

Ian Montgomery took second in the Bantam 55A pound class with a bye and technical fall 16-0 win before coming up short in the championship match.

In the Novice 100 pound class, Corey Clemons easily passed to the championship match with a bye and a 25 second pin, then fell in the final match to place second.

Arlie Salley in the Bantam 50 pound class took the hard road to the medal stand beginning with a first round bye then a hard 3-2 loss in the second round. He had to fight through four more rounds to get to the third place match that he won with a third period pin.

In the Bantam 55B class, Maddox Bryant advanced with a bye before losing a close 4-2 match in the second round. He came back with a third period pin, an 8-1 decision, and for the third place match a 12-0 major decision.

In the four and five year olds Bantam 40 pounds, Gage Petta won his first match with a 10-9 decision. He lost his next two. In the same bracket, Owen Montgomery faced two strong rivals that put him out of contention.

The Perry Wrestling Club is working hard in preparation for the upcoming Region tournament January 24 at Johnson County Middle School and the State Elementary Championship February 7 at the Louisville Convention Center.
