Last Monday, the Buckhorn Wildcats traveled to Letcher Central to take on the Cougars. The game was extremely tight throughout, with the real difference in the game coming in the third period. Buckhorn outscored Letcher by 10 in the frame, and came away with the 64-54 win.
Buckhorn came out strong and held on for a 13-11 lead at the end of the first period. However, the Wildcats would give the two points back in the second period, and the two teams went into the intermission tied at 25.
The third period has always been the Wildcats’ frame, and it would be no different on this night. Buckhorn ended the period with a 10 point lead (42-32). Both teams pulled out all the stops in the fourth quarter, with the Wildcats’ 10 point spread holding to the end (64-54).
Buckhorn had two players with double-digits on the night as Josh Crank had 20 points and 13 rebounds, and Connor Hoskins had 19 points and 11 rebounds.

At this point, the Wildcats hold a 7-11 record, but still have a full schedule remaining. Buckhorn will play three games this week, with a big games at Leslie County, and hosting JBS. In the next two weeks, the Wildcats will play Breathitt County and Cordia at home, and will go on the road to play Knott County.
