Last week, the Hazard Lady Bulldogs hosted the Lady Wildcats of Buckhorn in a big district match up. Hazard won the previous meeting 63-55 in the second round of the All “A” region.
The Lady Bulldogs got off to a strong start, and jumped out to a double-digit lead before the midway point of the first period. The Lady Wildcats on the other hand, struggled to get on the board and did not hit their first shot until the midway point. At the end of the period, Hazard held the 26-12 lead.
Hazard continued to control the tempo in the second period, and pushed their lead to 20 points. Going into the locker room, the Lady Bulldogs held the 45-22 advantage.
Little changed in the third quarter as Hazard pushed the lead to nearly 30 points. Buckhorn was able to make a late run that avoided the continuous clock. Going into the final eight minutes, the Lady Bulldogs were still in control 63-36.
Hazard put the clock in motion early in the period, and went to their bench. Buckhorn put some points on the board quickly to win the fourth quarter scoring battle (11-10). However, it would be the Lady Bulldogs that took the 73-47 win.
