On Monday, the Perry County Central Commodores got back on the floor by hosting the Lexington Catholic Knights. The Commodores jumped out to big lead early just to see the Knights fight back. This happened on several occasions, with Perry Central coming away with the 67-58 win.

It was all Perry Central in the opening quarter as they were able to keep Lexington Catholic from getting a good look at the rim. On the other side of the floor, the Commodores dropped five “3”s, and finished with a 21-9 lead.

The Knights began to pick up the pressure on the press, and force the Commodores into several miscues. Lexington Catholic won the points battle in the second period, but it would be Perry Central that went into the locker room with the 33-25 lead.

Perry Central opened the third quarter strong, and pushed their margin back to 19 points. Again, Lexington Catholic came roaring back, but they could not erase their deficit. The Commodores went into the final period with a 49-38 lead.

The Knight would go on a strong run to start the fourth quarter, and quickly cut the lead to a mere five points. The Commodores eventually began to break the press, and pushed the lead back to double-digits.

With time running out Lexington Catholic was forced to put the Commodores on the line. Perry Central was able to make good on their opportunities, and held on to win the game by the final count of 67-58.

Perry Central (67): Travis Dunn 13, Matt Turner 14, Damon Tobler 12, James Blair 17, Noah Back 9 and Austin Hill 2.
