Last week, the Buckhorn Wildcats hosted the Estill County Engineers. The Wildcats led the game from the opening tip, and never looked back as they etched an 89-52 win. Ryan Boggs scored the 1,000th point of his career in the game.
Buckhorn came out and hit the opening “3”, and Estill County quickly countered. However, it would be the final field goal of the period for the Engineers as the Wildcats notched a 17-3 lead at the horn.
The Wildcats continued to expand their margin in the second period, with the Engineers slowly beginning to get their offense going. Buckhorn put together a stellar eight minutes and went into the locker room with the 42-13 advantage.
In the third period, Buckhorn got one point away from the continuous clock before Estill County’s offense woke up. The Engineers reeled off nine straight points, forcing the Wildcats to wait until the next frame to put the game on ice.
Buckhorn went into the fourth quarter with the 64-32 lead. Soon after the period began, the Wildcats had the game on ice, and went to their bench for finish the game. Buckhorn went on to win the game by the final score of 89-52.
