Perry grade school wrestlers score big

Perry County wrestler Ian Montgomery finished the state finals 3-0 and brought home his second state title.

On Sunday, the Perry County grade school wrestling team traveled to Louisville to participate in the Kentucky State Youth Wrestling tournament. The Commodores grappling squad came away with three medals, led by Ian Montgomery’s 1st place finish.

First year wrestler Maddox Bryant brought home a 4th place medal by going 2-2 in the tournament. Bryant is a 1st grader at East Perry.

Viper’s Gage Logan went 2-1 on the day, and finished with a 2nd place medal. Logan is a third grader at Viper.

Fourth year wrestler Ian Montgomery was 3-0 on the day, and brought home the state title. It was Montgomery’s second state title. Montgomery is a third grader at Viper Elementary.

Owen Montgomery did not medal on the day, but made a good showing. Montgomery is a kindergarten student at Viper.
