Early last week, the Buckhorn Wildcats traveled to Hindman to take on the Knott Central Patriots. The game was nip and tuck throughout with a late surge by the Wildcats lifting them to the 64-50 win.
Buckhorn controlled the tempo in the first period, and came away with a 15-11 lead. Little changed in the second quarter as the Wildcats managed to hold on to their slim lead at the intermission (30-25).
The Patriots upped the tempo coming out of the break in an effort to get back in the game. However, the Wildcats were more than up to the task, and ended the period with a 43-39 advantage.
Buckhorn out ran Knott Central in the fourth quarter, and put the game on ice. The Wildcats went on to take the 64-50 win. Connor Hoskins paced Buckhorn with 28 points on the night, and overcame Kenneth Neace to become the 2nd all-time leading scorer in Wildcats history (2,027 points).
