The 6th grade semifinal game between the R. W. Combs Mustangs and the Viper Hornets proved to be as exciting as any game of the tournament. The Mustangs kept taking control of the game only to see the Hornets come storming back.
R. W. Combs opened the game strong early, only to see Viper pick up the pace late (10-6). The Mustangs had a short rally early, with the Hornets coming back late. At the half, R. W. Combs held the 21-16 lead.
The momentum from the first half carried over the the third period, allowing Viper to get back into the game. With six minutes to play, R. W. Combs’ lead was cut to 31-28.
Viper was able to tie the game in the fourth quarter, but ran out of steam late. R. W. Combs was able to hold off the Hornets from the free throw line, and moved on with the 46-40 win.
