In the first game of the 54th district tournament, the Buckhorn Lady Wildcats took on the host Leslie County Lady Eagles. The Lady Wildcats put up a strong fight in the first half, but ran out of gas in the second leading them to bow out of the tournament.
Leslie County jumped out to a small lead before Buckhorn could get their legs under them. The Lady Wildcats soon evened the game. However, the quick start lifted the Lady Eagles to the 19-10 lead at the horn.
Buckhorn picked up the pace in the second quarter, outscoring Leslie County in the frame. A late rally by the Lady Eagles allowed them to go into the locker room with the 36-28 advantage.
The Lady Wildcat offense broke down in the third quarter and did not produce a single point, leaving Buckhorn down 46-28 with eight minutes to play.
Buckhorn would not get any closer down the stretch, and eventually fell by the final score of 59-39. The Lady Wildcats finished the season with an 11-18 record.
