Commodores derail Engineers

The winners of the 54th district, the Perry County Central Commodores opened their quest for the 14th region title with the Estill County Engineers. The Commodores jumped out to the early lead, and never looked back as they derailed the Engineers 84-34.

Perry Central came out of the gate strong, putting up good numbers. Estill County managed to keep things close in the opening frame, with the Commodores posting the 18-12 lead at the horn.

The Commodores exploded in the second period, nearly matching the Engineers game total in the frame. Going into the locker room, Perry Central held the 49-22 advantage.

Perry Central turned up the defensive pressure in the third quarter, limiting Estill County to a handful of points. After the margin reached 35-points, the Commodores began to go to their bench. With eight minutes left to play, they held the 70-28.

The game ended quietly with Perry Central posting the 84-34 win, putting them in the semifinals.

Perry Central (84) Chandler Caudill 6, Richard Cornett 5, Travis Dunn 14, Matt Turner 19, Damon Tobler 6, Jacob Woolum 4, Jayden Neace 5, James Blair 7, Noah Back 10 and Austin Hill 8.

Estill Co. (34) Benton 4, Bonny 5, Doty 4, Tipton 6, Richardson 3, and Barnett 6.
