On Monday, the Perry County Central Commodores took on the June Buchanan Crusaders in a 14th region semifinal match up. The Commodores jumped out to a big lead early in the game, only to see it disappear. They would have to rally late to pull out the 58-48 win.
Perry Central came out quick, hitting shots from all over the floor. June Buchanan on the other hand, had trouble finding their range. The Commodores quickly took advantage and built a 20-6 lead.
The Crusaders began hitting the boards, and found their way back into the contest via the offensive rebound. Perry Central clung to a five point advantage at the break.
The Commodores came out cold in the second half, allowing the Crusaders to complete the comeback. June Buchanan got back in the game the same way Perry Central took the lead, by outscoring their opponent 20-6 (26-all).
The Crusaders would stretch their lead to seven points late in the third period, but the Commodores would rally to tie the game at 35 early in the fourth quarter. Perry Central would go up 47-38 with four minutes left to play.
With 1:24 remaining on the clock, the Commodores had a 54-42 lead, and the Crusaders decided to make them win the game from the line. Perry Central would make good on their free throws, and held on for the 58-48 win.
