After a postponement and a change of venue, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores finally kicked off their 2016 softball season. The Lady Commodores traveled to Jackson City to take on the Lady Tigers.
The game was a defensive struggle from the beginning as both teams crossed the plate in a single inning. Fortunately, the Lady Commodores picked up one more run in their frame than the Lady Tigers.
Perry Central broke the deadlock in the third inning as they pushed two runs across the plate. Jackson City would have to wait until their final at bat to get a rally going.
The Lady Tigers started their rally with a walk, and eventually pushed a run across the plate. With only one out, Jackson City got a runner on third, but could not get any farther, giving Perry Central the 2-1 win.
Lauren Amburgey got the win, going 7 innings with 6 hits, 1 run, 3 walks and 7 strikeouts.
Perry Central (2) E. Eversole 1 hit, L. Haddix 1 run and 1 hit, M. Walker 1 run and 1 hit, and K. Pigman 1 hit.
