Lady Bulldogs fall in season opener

The Hazard Lady Bulldogs opened their 2016 softball season on the road at Breathitt County. The Lady Bulldogs took the early lead, but could not hold off the Lady Bobcats as they fell 7-5.

Hazard took the early lead, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the first inning, Breathitt County countered with a single run in the bottom of the inning (2-1).

The Lady Bobcats took the lead with three runs in the third inning (2-4), but gave them back in the fifth inning, giving the Lady Bulldogs the 5-4 lead. However, Breathitt County would tie the game in the bottom of the inning with a single run. The Lady Bobcats then scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning to end all scoring, and giving them the 7-5 win.

Hazard (5) Sparkman 3 hits, 2 runs and 2 RBI, Fugate 1 run, Robinson 1 hit and 1 run, Griffie 1 hit, 1 run and 1 RBI, Whitaker 2 hits and Maggard 1 hit.
