Lady Bulldogs split Triangle tourney

Over the weekend, the Hazard Lady Bulldogs traveled to Powell County to participate in the Triangle Tournament hosted by the Lady Pirates. Along with the Lady Pirates, the Lady Bulldogs took on the Lady Jackets of Nicholas County.

Hazard would not fair too well against the host Lady Pirates. Despite being knotted in an 1-all tie in the fourth inning, the Lady Bulldogs fell to Powell County by the final count of 13-3.

Hazard (3) B. Sparkman 2 hits and 2 runs, J. Fugate 2hits, A. Muha 2 hits, M. Robinson 1 hit and L. Whitaker 1 run.

In the other game, Hazard took on the Lady Jackets from Nicholas County. The Lady Bulldogs would fair much better in this contest as they never trailed, and took the 11-6 win.

The Lady Bulldogs took the early 3-0 lead, scoring two runs in the first inning, and another run in the second. The Lady Jackets tied the score with three runs in the third inning, but it did not last long as Hazard took the 4-3 lead in the bottom of the frame.

Hazard crossed the plate three times in both the fourth and fifth innings, while Nicholas County could only muster two (10-5). Both teams scored a single run in the remaining innings, leaving the final count 11-6 in favor of the Lady Bulldogs.

Chandler Maggard got the win, going seven innings with 6 runs, 10 hits, 1 strikeout and 2 walks.
