Last week, the Hazard Bulldogs hosted the Perry County Central Commodores in the first meeting of the season. The game would be close throughout, with the Bulldogs pulling out the 3-1 win late.
Both teams scattered a couple of hits through the first three innings of the game, with neither really threatening to score. Perry Central picked up their only run in the top of the fourth inning as Dylan Fields got on with a single and worked his way around to score on a Brody Dixon single.
The 1-0 score would hold until the sixth inning when Hazard put together a three run rally. The Bulldogs’ Cole Ratliff opened the rally with a single. Ratliff, Ryan Smith and Blake Nidiffer scored in the frame (Nidiffer also had a RBI).
Perry Central put together what looked to be a comeback bid, loading the bases with a single out. However, Hazard’s defense stepped up and put an end to the rally. The Bulldogs went on to win the game by the final count of 3-1.
