Early last week, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores traveled to Pike County to take on the Lady Hawks of Pike Central. Perry Central would fall behind early in the contest, and battled their way back to take the 9-8 win in eight innings.
The Lady Commodores fell behind 1-0 by the end of the second inning, and was down 6-2 as the third frame ended. At that point, Perry Central began their slow comeback.
By the time the game entered the final inning, Perry Central was down but a single run at 8-7. The Lady Commodore eeked out a run in their final at bat, and settled down to stop the Lady Hawks in their half of the inning.
The Lady Commodores then pushed across a single run the top of the eighth inning, giving them the 9-8 advantage. The Lady Hawks were unable to get anything going in the bottom of the inning, and Perry Central came away with the 9-8 win.
Lauren Amburgey got the win, going eight innings with 7 hits, 8 runs, 9 strikeouts and 0 walks.
