Last week, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores hosted the Lady Raiders of South Floyd in softball action. The Lady Commodores took the early lead, and were able to fend off several rallies by the Lady Raiders.
The first score of the game came in the second inning when Perry Central put two runs on the board. South Floyd countered with a run in the top of the next inning, but gave it back in the bottom half (3-1). The only other score in the contest came in the fifth inning when the Lady Commodores tacked on an insurance run. The Lady Raiders had several opportunities down the stretch, but each attack was met with a defensive counter attack.
Perry Central went on to win the game by the final count of 4-1. Lauren Amburgey got the win on the mound, going seven innings with 4 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and 8 strikeouts.
