Late last week, the Perry County Central baseball team traveled to Harlan County to take on the Black Bears. The Commodores scored early, and often, as they downed the Bears 11-3.
Perry Central got started with a pair of runs in the first inning, They would continue to roll into the third innings as they went up 5-0. Harlan County would then light the scoreboard on their side with a single run (5-1).
The Commodores increased their lead to 7-1 in the fourth inning, but failed to score in the fifth (the only frame they did not score in). Harlan County outdueled Perry Central in the sixth inning, but did not offer a comeback (8-3).
Perry Central put the finishing touches on the game in the seventh inning, pushing three runs across the plate to take the 11-3 lead. The Commodores allowed a single base runner in the seventh, but did not allow a rally.
The Commodores went on to win the game by the final count of 11-3. Evan Hurt got the win for Perry Central, while Colton Walker also spent time on the mound.
