Last week, the Hazard Bulldogs hosted the Estill County Engineers. The Bulldogs picked up enough runs in the first inning to guarantee the win, and then rolled to the 7-2 win.
Hazard got off to a quick start as they plated a total of four runs in the first period. The rally was highlighted by a Ryan Smith hit that brought two runs across (4-0).
Estill County would plate single runs in each the third and fourth inning, cutting the Hazard lead to 4-2. The Bulldogs responded with three more runs in the bottom of the inning, extending the lead to 7-2. The rally came at the expense of the Engineer defense as Hazard got all three runs across without a single hit. The 7-2 score would hold up down the stretch, and be posted as the final.
Blake Lockhart got the win on the mound, going six innings with 7 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.
