On Saturday, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores boarded a bus and traveled to Knox County to participate in the Knox County Invitational. Their first opponent would be the Wayne County Lady Cardinals.
Perry Central opened the game strong with a two run first inning. Wayne County countered with two runs in the second inning to tie the game. The Lady Cardinals broke the tie in the third inning as they upped their tally to three (2-3).
The score would stand until the seventh inning when the Lady Commodores rallied for a three-spot, bringing the tally to 5-3. Perry Central settled in defensively in the bottom portion of the frame, and shut down Wayne County.
Perry Central went on to win the game 5-3, with Lauren Amburgey getting the win on the mound. Amburgey went seven innings with 5 hits, 3 runs, 4 walks and 3 strikeouts.
