Perry holds off Knox for win

In their second game at the Knox County Invitational, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores took on the host Lady Panthers. The Lady Commodores had to hold off a late charge by the Lady Panthers to get the win.

Perry Central got on the board first with a pair of runs in the first inning. Knox County inched their way back in the game with single runs in the second and third innings (2-2).

The Lady Commodores took one of the runs back in the bottom of the third inning, putting them back on top 3-2.

The fourth inning saw Perry Central cross the plate twice, raising their advantage to 5-2. Knox County had one more rally left in them, and it came in the fifth inning. The Lady Panthers garnered two runs, but then had the rally cut short by the Lady Commodore defense (5-4).

Neither team would visit the plate down the stretch, and the game ended with Perry Central taking the close 5-4 win. Lauren Amburgey got the win on the mound, going the distance with 6 hits, 4 runs, 0 walks and 4 strikeouts.

Perry Central (5) Emilee Eversole 1 run, 2 hits and 1 RBI, Lexi Haddix 2 runs, 1 hit and 1 RBI, Mahala Walker 1 hit and 1 RBI, Lauren Amburgey 1 hit and 2 RBI, Maddi Minks 1 run and 1 hit, and Kaitlyn Jones 1 run.
