On Saturday, the Hazard-Perry U-17 baseball team participated in the 4th of July tournament in the Perry County Park. Hazard-Perry took on South Central of Floyd County. Hazard-Perry would get all the runs they would need to win the game in the first inning.
Hazard-Perry opened the game with six runs in the top half of the first inning. South Central would muster but a single run in the bottom of the frame, giving Hazard-Perry the 6-1 lead.
Hazard-Perry would erase South Central’s run in the following inning (7-1), and then settled in to shutout their opponent in the bottom half of the inning. Hazard-Perry would follow that with another big inning, outscoring South Central 4-1. The rally would put them on top 11-2 after just three innings of play.
South Central could not stop Hazard-Perry’s bats in the fourth inning as they put four more runs on the board. South Central followed that with just two runs in their half of the inning. The exchange gave Hazard-Perry the 15-4 advantage, and brought the game to an early end.
