On Saturday, the City of Hazard hosted their annual Soap Box Derby. The winner of the events (Super Stock and Stock) advanced to Akron, Ohio for the National Soap Box Derby event. This year, because of the impending weather, the event was shortened to a single elimination trial; and when the brake dust cleared, Cody Slone walked away with the Super Stock title, and Lila Akemon held the Stock trophy.

The top finishers in the Super Stock event were: Cody Slone first place, Brooklyn Spencer second place, Keenan Deaton third place, and Corey Clemons fourth place. Over in the Stock division the top finishers were Lila Akemon first place, Angel Wilkerson second place, Peanut Hagen third place, and Beth Ann Browning fourth place.
